Llewellyn van der Merwe is a South African software engineer now living in Namibia, open-source contributor, and founder of Vast Development Method. He began building websites with Joomla in 2008 and has spent more than 15 years developing advanced web applications, enterprise systems, and automation tools on top of the Joomla platform. In 2014, he publicly released Joomla Component Builder (JCB), a powerful development engine that helps developers build and maintain complex Joomla extensions at scale. Today, his work focuses on enterprise-grade system development, long-term application architecture, AI-assisted workflows, and ongoing contributions to the Joomla project, including maintaining the official Joomla Docker images, Security team and supporting the Afrikaans localization.
